Just east of Excelsior, in the rolling hills and forests of Shorewood and Deephaven, 20025 Manor Road has been hiding away its stunning architecture atop a gentle knoll since 1964. Designed specifically for the breathtaking setting, the wings of the layout embrace the setting from each different area of the home.
The designer driven renovation in 2019 included a collaboration between owners, designer and builder to create something truly special and one of a kind, while maintaining classic mid century design ideas.
The project included a complete interior face lift along with exterior and landscape improvements such as the dark exterior paint, new windows, roof, deck, pool and patio along with significant tree trimming. The most notable improvements brought a reimagined layout with curated layers of materials, purpose driven lighting and furnishings to accentuate the distinct living areas and life of the home. Every room begs you to sit down and enjoy yourself or your guests, whatever the occasion. These spaces are made to make memories.
From the original driveway approach (long driveway from the South), the low-profile design slowly comes into view over the hill, and never really hints at the volume of the interior spaces. This low-slung design somehow hides the two level bedroom wing, layered behind. The simple, main structure breaks at a brick wall protrusion for the dramatic screen porch on the Southeast corner, giving a hint at the indoor / outdoor intentions of this floorplan and private setting. Those shapes are directly transposed inside with a continuous vault running the length of the main public room structure, from the kitchen eastward to the living room where it culminates with a wrap around wall of glass overlooking the patio. east lawn, and wetlands beyond. That same expansive screen porch visible from the driveway, hides around the corner, transporting you to a different time and place with comfortable seating areas and an integrated drainage system for potted plants. Walking back towards the West end of the home, you pass the foyer and a glass hallway leading to the bedroom wing. The views from the windows highlight the private setting and capture the pool cabana and pool area at the West end of the property.
